Our Vision

Key Tenets:

Georgia National Produce is the result of an intention to start and run a company according to a set of values. Those of us who started it worked at various other companies in and out of the produce industry.  In our past experiences we accumulated knowledge and developed a philosophy.  We envisioned a way of running a company.

The first and most important element of our approach to running Georgia National is to employ the best people and to train and support those people in a way that allows them to do their best work.

The second element is to do all things, small and large, correctly. This resulted in the DSR initiative. DSR stands for “Do Stuff Right”. DSR is a simple but powerful statement that guides every decision.

The third element is exemplary customer service. We have built systems and a culture so responsive and flexible that we meet the needs of customers on a customer-by-customer basis. We customize our service and product mix to thrill each customer.

The forth element is to utilize technology and automation to the fullest extent possible.  We employ modern and sophisticated machinery, equipment, computers and software to accelerate our efficiency and effectiveness.

Do Stuff Right

Do Stuff Right is a simple but powerful statement. Its power is in its simplicity.  It is, at the same time, easy to grasp and all-encompassing.  Its message can be comprehended by each individual in the organization while it positively impacts the execution of every task.

DSR is being precise, diligent and meticulous. DSR is doing things the best way even when it would be easier and acceptable to do less. DSR is more than doing a good job, it’s striving for perfection. DSR is a focus on getting every detail right. DSR is being obsessed with excellence.

DSR is, of course, a philosophy. A way of thinking that is taught and reinforced everyday in our company culture. Employees are immersed in DSR rhetoric. DSR is integrated into every function we perform in ways we plan and in ways we cannot foresee.

DSR is also a set of guidelines which determine how customers, vendors, competitors and co-workers are treated and how situations are handled.  Profitability is essential to any business but DSR says that profit is fourth on a list were the first three priorities are that business be conducted morally, ethically and legally.

DSR additionally says we are proactive. We don’t wait for problems. We don’t assume things can’t be changed. We actively look for better ways to do every task. We actively identify opportunities for errors or inefficiency or ineffectiveness and, by doing away with the opportunities for problems, prevent many problems from ever happening.

DSR is the cornerstone of Georgia National.  It is our unique value proposition. When outsiders and employees alike think: “What do we do well?” DSR says the answer is a resounding: “Everything we do is done well!”
